Mayumi Nogami was born in Tokyo, Japan. She came to Canada as a tourist in 1990 and ended up staying, living in the Canadian Rockies for 8 years. She then moved to Toronto, first studying art at Humber College and later graduating with a major in illustration from Ontario College of Art & Design. Mayumi now resides permanently in Victoria, inspired by the mountains, ocean and the vibrant city.
